James L. Rogers concentrates his practice in patent preparation and prosecution, with a particular emphasis on securing domestic and international patent protection for general biological, immunologic, and pharmaceutical discoveries, medical devices, and mechanical inventions. Additionally, he provides patentability, infringement, and freedom to operate analyses and opinions in patent law, and counsels clients on patent and trademark licensing matters.
Jim is the author of several books on intellectual property law and has previously worked for law firms and a biotechnology company as a patent attorney. He is also an adjunct professor at New York College of Technology where he teaches courses on patent, copyright, and trademark law.
Jim earned his J.D. from Suffolk University in Boston in 1992, his MS in biology (with an emphasis on recombinant DNA) from New York University in 1999 and his PhD in molecular medicine (with an emphasis on immunology) at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 2007. Jim also has a B.A. in political sci-ence and French from Union College in Schenectady, New York (1987).
He is admitted to practice in New York and Massachusetts, as well as before the Federal Eastern, Northern, and Southern District Courts of New York. He is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
